The Center for Canadian Language Benchmarks (CCLB) is the national standard setting body for the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) and the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC). The CCLB supports and promotes the use of these national standards in educational, training, community and workplace settings.
The CLB and NCLC are recognized as the official Canadian standards for describing, measuring and recognizing the language proficiency of adult immigrants and prospective immigrants in both English and French. They provide a common language for the entire immigrant-serving community.
The CCLB is a national, not-for-profit organization established in 1998 to support the CLB and NCLC. It is governed by a nationally representative, multi-stakeholder board of directors including representation from government, ESL and FSL experts and language assessors.
We, at NCLA, have customized the assessment tools offered by the The Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks by integrating industry specific content into the evaluation grids. Moreover, our Spanish experts utilize our modified CLB grids to assess in Spanish. This ensures uniformity of assessments across all 3 languages. In turn, our client's potential and current employees are not only being assessed for proficiency in a specific language, but for industry specific knowledge in the target language. As a result, the client is better informed as to the capabilities of potential and/or current staff.
